living life on two continents

I was born in Belgrade in 1957. I graduated in Tourism at the University of Belgrade and started my career with the national airline. In 1991 I moved to Australia with my family of four. Thanks to my professional background, working with Yugoslav Airlines, today known as Air Serbia, (successor of JAT) and Finnair most of my career, I was fortunate to be able to travel to many countries in Asia, Europe, and North America

Visiting Serbia every year, I kept the connection with my family and friends and every year I explored different parts of Serbia: picturesque Serbian villages, monasteries, lakes and beautiful mountains. Whenever I land in Belgrade, the deep emotion and love for the city where I grew up, is always in my heart. Serbian culture and tradition was an inspiration for some of my traditional theme paintings.

Traveling to Finland in winter was a discovery of beauty of untouched white nature, forests, hot springs, saunas and frozen lakes. I have experienced the magic of silence, a forest bath, white Christmas, snowmobile safari and fishing on the frozen lakes in far north corner of the Earth. These experiences are unique and memorable, different from my travel to any other part of the world. Blue, green, and white quickly became my favourite colour combinations.

My second home now is in Sydney, down-under. Flying around the country to visit galleries and homesteads of some of Australia’s famous artists, as well as the natural beaches, hillsides, and old rural towns has been the inspiration for choosing earthy colours in some of my paintings of nature. In 2020, a little bench-seat in Hunter park, overlooking Balmoral Beach, became my outdoor art studio, where I spent leisurely afternoons watching the waves, painting, meditating through the brushwork, and above all, living.
